I feel physically fatter, yet haven’t actually gained any weight…?

I fee like I’ve physically gained weight in the stomach area, and I look in the mirror and feel that I have. So naturally, when I felt like this I thought it was best to check to see if my weights increased. I weighted myself and I’m 128 pounds and 5′9 (I’m male). Most of my friends who are of a similar weight (and sometimes heavier) than me and a similar height, are stick thin, while although I’m certainly not fat, I’m not thin and feel I’m gaining. I about an hour of cardio two-three times a week.

What’s going on?

The chances are that you’ve lost muscle tone and gained fat cells.

Stay off the carbs, when you do have to eat them then make sure that you’re giving yourself a few hours before your sleep cycle. As you get older it’s harder to keep a trim physique (look at governator), so it’s all about diet, you are what you eat.

Welcome to the club. When that happens to me, I exercise more. I don’t know why, I just feel better about myself when I do.

id say your experiencing some bloating if you havent gained any actual weight. Consume more water and try consuming more fibre to flush the system (try natural psylium husk) good source of fibre you find that after a week youl feel thinner as most of the gasses are expelled.
Id increase your amount of workouts to min. 3-4 per week and start with a 30 min weights session before you do cardio , you wil see better and quicker results as you woud know muscle consumes fat for building.

    good luck

Honey, let me tell you something… for your height 128 pounds IS thin, but no, not anorexic (which I really hope you are not aiming to be) but I know what you are talking about, sometimes we feel heavier on certain days and sometimes, we even look heavier too, although the scale has not changed! It’s a bit weird.

But let’s put it down to this: there’s more to our bodies than anybody realises, even the so-called experts!

Hormones and our emotions certainly do play a part in how we are feeling, in our bodies, not only in our heads or hearts.

Sometimes I wake up in the morning and feel so much lighter than the night before! Then I go brush my teeth and wash my face, start to get dressed and all of a sudden feel (and look) so much heavier than I did twenty minutes ago!

But I have to recognize that I felt great getting up and looking forward to the day, that’s one reason why I may have felt so good and light. Another reason was because I had just been lying horizontal for 8 or more hours. They say that the best time to measure your height is first thing in the morning because of gravity. So gravity had been pushing me the other way and my tummy is flat – yay!

I also have to recognize that as soon as I start looking for something to wear today, as much as I love clothes, if I can’t find a good outfit that suits my mood today and just ‘works’ then I get frustrated very easily. My mood changes and I feel deflated = feeling fat! AND I start standing differently which changes my posture and the way my body looks. All of a sudden by boobies are pointing down, my bottom and thighs are wide and my back is hunched – yuck!

So next time you are feeling a bit heavy, or even think you look it, remember that we ALL have days when we feel a bit down or not as ’springy’ – it can have an affect on our stance AND on the way we see ourselves in the mirror. Just let it pass as it will and don’t force it.

Remember that your posture can make a big difference to your body, so just be aware of what your feeling and how your standing throughout the day. You don’t have to change it if you don’t want to – just notice it.

The other thing is that sometimes foods we eat that are heavier (like red meats and carbs) sometimes take a while to process in our bodies. You might feel full straight away, but that heavy feeling my not come until the next day or the day after.

So don’t feel guilty or worried about feeling a bit heavier sometimes, even if the scales don’t know it. Remember nobody will even notice, unless you tell them… just focus on something else more positive and it will surely pass, I promise!

Hope you feel betta soon! x x x

It sounds like that universally disliked malady, “bloating”! Water retention usually results in wieght gain. This is more likely gas, or something akin to that… It doesn’t have to painful, or lead to flautulence. Try less salt, more water. Try an anti-gas tablet. Try yogurt. If it’s bloating, it may be gastro-intestinal. Fiber will help. Laxatives will help, also. As will walking. I do NOT reccommend all the over-the-counter remedies at one time, of course… THAT may result in rapid weight-loss!
    Good luck. I sympathize. }:>

With the workout that you say you are doing has probably build-ed muscle mass in the abdomen, which will look and feel heavier because muscle weight more then fat. So relax and continue to workout, the six-pack you will develop will soon show it self in the mirror.

its possible this you lost muscle mass and its been replaced with fat….muscle weighs more than fat but muscle ALWAYS burns more calories than fat even when your sleeping
